Becoming A Christian

God desires everyone to become a Christian. The Bible teaches us in 2 Peter 3:9 that He wants everyone to come to faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. We learn from this section of verses that Jesus is coming back again to this earth to receive all people into His heaven who have accepted Him by faith. 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV) says: "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."

We must admit they we have fallen short of God's expectations. The Bible refers to this as sin, or missing the mark (of perfection). Romans 3:23 (NIV) says: "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," In other words, every human being, except the Lord Jesus, has sinned against God. If we are honest with ourselves, we have to admit that that is true.

God's Word continues to pour out God's grace by letting us know that sin is forgiven by God when we confess it (in the name of Jesus Christ). 1 John 1:9 (NIV) says: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." Therefore, when we ask God to forgive us of our sins, in the name of Jesus Christ, He forgives us.

Now, when we confess our sins and by faith trust Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, we are assured of total forgiveness and eternal salvation in heaven. The Gospel of John 3:16 (NIV) says: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal live."

The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV): "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" This is being "Born-Again".

If the time is now for you to repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, please pray this prayer:

Lord, thank you for sending your Son, Jesus Christ to reveal Your salvation.

I admit that I have sinned against You and ask You to forgive me in the name of Jesus.

I accept Your Son, Jesus Christ, as my personal Lord and Savior.

Thank you for giving me a new life with eternal salvation.

I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, please share it with me so I can rejoice with you. You have just made the most important and wisest decision of your entire life. You can reach me by going to the contact part of this website and email me.
